How to create an opportunity in VOGSY
You can create an opportunity at different moments:
directly with the button "+ new opportunity",
or
Promote a lead to an opportunity, or
Create an opportunity while you set up a project.
Creating an opportunity while setting up a project is a nice feature if you forget to do so before starting your project.
Most VOGSY users want an unbroken flow from opportunity to a project. That's why you can create an opportunity at this moment.
The opportunity form
On the opportunity form, there are the following fields
Name
Enter a short phrase that describes the opportunity.
Department
Select the company or department that will work on the opportunity.
Organization
Begin typing the name of the company that is the customer of this opportunity. If the company exists in your organizations database, it will appear in this field.
If the company does not exist in the database, click CREATE NEW ORGANIZATION to add it
Contact
This drop-down list will be populated with the name (s) of the contact person(s) of the organization you selected in the Organization field.
If there is no contact person, click Add New Contact to add one.
Description
Use this field for a short declaration about the scope and potential of the opportunity or any other relevant information that might be useful for your team members to know.
Stage
The current sales stage of the opportunity. The default stages are:
New (0%)
Qualification (10%)
Solution definition (25%)
Proposal (50%)
Decision due (75%)
Final negotiation (90%)
Win (100%)
Lost (0%)
You can replace these defaults with your own via the back office master table.
Sales probability %
Set the chance of winning the opportunity here. This can be a different percentage from the default stage percentage.
Type
The type of opportunity. The default types are:
New business
Existing customer
You can replace these with your own type via the back office master table.
Source
The source of the lead. The default sources are:
Advertising
Event
Other
Outbound Marketing
Referral
Social Network
Website
You can replace these with your own list of source types via the back office master table.
Currency
The opportunity's default currency is the local currency of the company handling it.
The currency can be changed in any currency, as desired by the customer
The opportunity’s financial data will be displayed in the currency set in this field. The order value for charts and reports is calculated and displayed in the currency set in this field.
Revenue Type
Revenue types categorize revenue and costs associated with an opportunity. The available types can be configured in the back office.
Revenue
The opportunity’s expected revenue.
Recurring revenue
The portion of this opportunity’s revenue that is expected to continue into the future. Typically associated with subscriptions.
Opportunity date
The date of the opportunity. It defaults to the current date—that is, the day the opportunity card is created.
Close date
The date by which this opportunity is expected to become a win or a loss.
Expected start date
The start date of the future project, when the team should start working on it.
Expected finish date
The finish date of the future project.
The expected start and finish dates play important roles in the revenue forecast because the projected revenue will be distributed between these dates.
Account manager
The person overseeing this opportunity.
Configuring the opportunity form
The opportunity form can be configured depending on your organizational goals for managing opportunities.
Scroll to the bottom of the form and click the cog icon to display the Configure the opportunity form.

Be aware that when these dates are not filled, the revenue from opportunities will not be shown in the revenue forecast.
The account manager can be hidden or visible, depending on whether you want your users to change the default account manager.
The default account manager in the opportunity form can be the person creating the opportunity or the customer's account manager.
