How to set up your international company structure
What is the purpose of the company structure in VOGSY?
The company structure in VOGSY should mirror the actual company structure.
VOGSY offers the following benefits to multinational companies:
Consolidated reporting at the headquarters or holding level in the currency of the holding, which, in VOGSY, we consider to be the base currency
Tracking the performance of subsidiary companies in their local currencies
The subsidiary companies can manage their operations and finances in their local currencies
Managers can plan resources using a unified resource pool that serves all companies
Intercompany tracking: monitoring and managing transactions between the different subsidiaries
Setting up your company structure
You can set up a 3-layered organizational structure. The main company (headquarters or holding company) contains one or more subsidiary companies.
A company contains one or more departments. Set up departments to organize activities, tasks, and employees into manageable segments.
Each company can have its local currency and financial integration with a 3rd party software solution, for instance like this:
Holding (base currency and finance integration)
Company (local currency and finance integration)
Department (resource teams/pools)
Department (resource teams/pools)
Company (local currency and finance integration)
Department (resource teams/pools)
...etc.
How to set up activities and rates
Activities in VOGSY are the category of hours that your employees will log time against.
In the master table Activities, you can configure the activities used to calculate deliverables, plan resources, track time, and invoice.
You can set a cost and sales rate per activity for each currency (base and local currencies).
Typically, you won't need more than 8 to 12 activities.
Setting up employees
The final step in setting up your international company structure involves assigning employees to the appropriate company or department. You can do this in the Employees function in VOGSY's Back office.
You also set up cost, sales, and intercompany rates in the employee's local currency. Their current company determines the employee's currency.
The intercompany cost rate is applied when an employee tracks time against a project from a different company.
