The headline this month: two major AI milestones. The VOGSY MCP server is now publicly available at mcp.vogsy.io, letting your team connect AI assistants and other compatible tools directly to VOGSY. In practice, this means less time switching between systems and copying data by hand: your AI assistant of choice can query projects, organizations, and other VOGSY data, and take action on your behalf, all through natural language. For professional services firms looking to build their own AI-driven workflows on top of VOGSY, this is the foundation that makes it possible.

Alongside that, VOGSY AI Analysis is now generally available to all customers with AI enabled. This gives you AI-generated summaries for organizations and projects, so you can quickly understand what's happening without digging through records yourself. Read more about how it works here. Together with the MCP server, these are the two most significant, high-impact changes in this release.

This cycle also brings a set of smaller updates aimed at giving finance and project teams more control over billing, purchasing, and reporting, including AI-powered recognition for incoming purchase invoices.

Highlights:

  • VOGSY MCP server is now publicly accessible at mcp.vogsy.io, enabling AI tools to connect to VOGSY
  • VOGSY AI Analysis is now generally available to all customers with AI enabled
  • AI-powered invoice recognition turns emailed supplier invoices into ready-to-review purchase invoice records

New features

  • Public VOGSY MCP server. VOGSY's MCP (Model Context Protocol) server is now publicly available at mcp.vogsy.io (https://mcp.vogsy.io). This allows AI assistants and other compatible tools to connect directly to VOGSY, opening up new ways to interact with your data outside of the standard VOGSY interface. Read more about how to connect and what it can do here.

  • AI-powered recognition for purchase invoices. The back office Purchase Invoices function now has an import option in the form of a dedicated email address. You'll find it behind the link "Did you know you can import invoices by email" on the Purchase Invoices function. Simply forward incoming supplier invoices to that address, and VOGSY's AI recognizes the invoice data and automatically creates a purchase invoice record. This removes the need for manual data entry; finance teams only need to review and finalize the cost distribution before the invoice is processed.

  • AI Analysis is now generally available. The AI-generated summaries for organizations and projects (Internal, External, and Project analysis) are now available to all customers who have AI features enabled, having moved out of early access. Read more about how it works here.

Improvements

  • Expense line compression on invoices. Building on the existing option to compress time entries into a single invoice line, customers can now enable the same consolidation for expenses. When turned on, all expense lines on a project invoice are combined into a single "Expenses" line instead of listing each one separately.

  • Direct costs in budget drill-down. When drilling into the budget indicator on the project view, users can now see direct costs alongside time-based and other cost types, giving a more complete picture of where budget is being spent.

  • Organization name in invoice filenames. A new mergefield lets you include the organization name in the filename of generated project invoices, alongside the existing invoice number and project name options.

  • Full user role for external users. External users are no longer limited to the "lite user" role; they can now be assigned a full user role, making it possible to onboard external project managers and collaborators with the same access as internal full users.

  • QuickBooks Online: location mapping. The QuickBooks Online integration now supports mapping companies and departments to Locations in QuickBooks, in addition to the existing Classes mapping. This is optional; transactions without a mapped location continue to sync as before.

  • AI chat history preserved while navigating. VOGSY AI chat no longer loses your prompt and conversation when you move between pages, such as from an opportunity to an organization. You can choose to continue your current chat or start a new one for the page you're navigating to.

  • Option to disable timesheet pre-filling with planning activities. The per-employee timesheet setting has been extended with an option to turn off automatic pre-filling of allocated planning activities. This is useful for employees allocated to many projects or tasks, where pre-filling could otherwise result in large, unwieldy timesheets. Back office users can enable this per employee without affecting the pre-fill behavior for others.

Bug fixes

  • AI feed summaries now include completed items. The default AI feed summary prompt previously excluded feed items marked as "Done," which could make summaries incomplete. It now includes all recent feed events regardless of status.

  • Purchase order approval notifications. Fixed an issue where purchase order approval notifications could fail to send for existing purchase orders that did not have a currency set.

  • AI planning assistant calculation adjustments. Fixed an issue where using "Adjust calculation" in the AI planning assistant could return an error instead of completing the adjustment.

  • AI chat organization creation. Fixed an issue where the AI chat agent could fail to create an organization even though the capability was available, so this action now completes reliably.
